In order to showcase my personality and design knowledge, I needed to create a portfolio site for future employers or peers to view.
BUT ... since I am a perfectionist, I designed this entire site from scratch - down to every last margin and graphic.
Professional, but fun ... vintage, but modern ... clear, but dense. This proved to be challenging.
@reascribbles
The first iteration of my personal avatar was created in 2021 when running out of ideas for a 365-day drawing challenge. In a panic, I drew myself ... drawing myself. It has now evolved into a combination of my current style and the first digital drawing I ever created (hence the top hat and shoes).
FUN FACT: the dual hair tuffs on both sides of my head emulate my childhood haircut based on Dora the Explorer
My love for anything magical, vintage, and azure blue are actually NOT the primary reasons for the colour choices on this site.
Accessibilty
A very important person in my life has protanopia (red-green colour blindness), meaning they are barely able to see shades of red. This results in only being able to see a "normal" spectrum of blues and yellows. My mission with this site was to merge a personal goal of creating a site nearly identical in hue for unaltered and protan individuals, while still keeping my identity intact.
Technical Style
I struggled with balancing a unique, cohesive identity with traditional UX design minimalism aesthetic.
